LLCs: To form an LLC in Kansas, your company name must include the words “limited liability company,” or an abbreviation of that term. The Kansas State government requires that you send the Secretary of State an original and a copy of your Articles of Organization. Also submit payment for a $165 filing fee.
Corporations: To form a corporation in Kansas, your company name must include one of the following terms: "association," "church," "college," "company," "corporation," "club," "foundation," "fund," "incorporated," "institute," "society," "union," "syndicate," "limited," or an abbreviation, such as "co.," "corp.," "inc.," or "ltd." The Kansas State government requires that you send the Secretary of State two copies of your Articles of Incorporation. The Secretary will file one copy and certify and return the other. Submit payment for a $90 filing fee.

The Kansas state government requires that you send the Secretary of State two copies of your completed Foreign Limited Liability Company Application, along with a certificate issued by your home state that affirms your LLC is in good standing. The certificate must have been issued within 90 days of your application. Also submit payment for a $165 filing fee.
Corporations: No restrictions apply for corporation names. If your name is already taken in the State of Kansas, you may still qualify by providing written consent from the corporation with the conflicting name. The Kansas state government requires that you send the Secretary of State two copies of your completed Foreign Corporation Application, along with a certificate issued by your home state that affirms your corporation is in good standing. The certificate must have been issued within 90 days of your application. Submit payment for a $115 filing fee.
